If you've decided you want to get started on an evaluation or therapy, I like to begin with a phone conversation to make sure I seem like a good fit to you. For testing and evaluations I like to understand a little bit about what you hope to get out of the evaluation and verify I have the right skills to do the testing needed. For therapy, we should talk a little bit about what you hope therapy will change, who (you, your child, whole family) will be coming for sessions, and whether you have tried therapy with another person in the past. I'll also verify whether I have an open appointment block that matches your availability.
For evaluations/testing, once I understand the scope of the work I can let you know the costs for what we have discussed. If we seem like a good fit and you want to schedule an appointment, I can do that over the phone. Appointments for testing services are usually available within 2-4 weeks depending on client availability. For working parents I have some limited flexibility for testing appointments during the the early morning or evening, and Saturday appointments. Be sure to let me know if you have concerns about missing work when we discuss scheduling.
You can also take your time to think about it or contact other providers before making a decision. If I don't think I am the right professional to meet your or your family's needs, then I may be able to suggest a colleague who I think can help you.
When you decide to make a first appointment, I'll let you know about forms that are useful to fill out in advance and bring with you. Directions/map to my office and detailed contact information appear on the Contact page . Basic contact information and general office hours appear at the bottom of every page.
